On the night of Saturday last, the 23rd instant, a widow named Peggy GARTLAND, of the advanced age of 82 years, was inhumanly murdered at Allenstown, where she resided for many years past. She lived in the house of a labouring man named Staunton, who was from home at the time of the brutal occurrence. Leaving 2011

As we say goodbye to 2011, we remember with sadness two members of the community who passed away at Christmas time .
Dessie Rennicks from the  White Quarry road Ardbraccan and also Christy Bennett of the Newline Neilstown who also passed away both were quiet gentlemen who were unassuming in all walks of life.We remember them kindly as we enter the new year.

We also congratulate Michelle Bennett of Grange on her recent marriage on New Years eve  .
